will the heads from an ea82 block work on an ea82t?

Featured Replies

You are correct. The right head is different due to the oil and coolant lines for the turbo.

the exhaust valve is also thicker /more heavy duty to take the extra heat from the turbo

the intake ports are different. the heads will bolt up. the exhaust will bolt up. but the intake will not bolt up.

the turbo has duel ports, the NA has a single port...

okay im confused. if my block were a true EA82T would it have the "T" stamped on it? because it doesnt. The car is a 1989 Gl-10 AWD Turbo, it has all the badging, all the gadgets. To the best of my knowledge, the motor is original. I just ordered a set of remanufactured heads off of ebay and it says they will work on a EA82T. If i transfer the cam carriers from the old heads to the new will they work? and the reason i ordered two new heads is because the passenger side (turbo side) has one of the bridge cracks that goes all the way down into the runner = no go. And the drivers side head has a very badly stripped spark plug hole and a bridge cracks forming as well. I have access to a bridgeport and lathe in my uncles garage where the work will be taking place. Possible modification to new heads for an oil feed line?

No, we add the T to the EA82 and the EJ22 when speaking about them in forum.

The blocks are still stamped just EA82. The pistons are different, the rest is pretty much the same. The block is a MPFI block and has a few things that are MPFI specific.

Non turbo, single port heads WILL NOT work on an EA82T application - they are different castings entirely and the manifold isn't even close. If they are non-turbo MPFI heads they will work if you drill/tap the oil return line for the turbo or move it to the pan, etc.
