I kno odd question but i want to test out a transmission without putting tons of things on yet. I was planning on just dropping the trans and engine in and firing it up on jackstands (without axles) to see if it would go through the gears and smoothly. Bad idea? I thought i heard i could hurt stuff like that.

Nope just wear ear protection.

Ive done it, engine still runs just as bad as it did before. Your good to go.

Done it. Drove the "old" '86 BRAT about 200 yards from out back to the front of the garage. It was LOUD, and gutless as hell.

 

You won't hurt anything just running it for a few minutes without the Y-pipe. Well,,,, maybe your ears....

i've done it before too. their ear protection suggestions are not jokes, it's REALLY loud, like probably not healthy. i drove a good bit like this before, it's numbing...just hurts you, not the car

had my y pipe fall off. PO are always your worst enemy

The only damage may be your relationship with your neighbors if you run it too long.

I did this on my legacy and it was even louder than the ea82.
