March 29, 201016 yr  so I thought I'd do some work today on my Red Brat.... and since I smashed up the door pretty good, it was a goner anyway... Filling in the gap with some 2x4s the inside door opener broke, so I reused some parts to utilize the exterior door handle opener, but created a push button basically to open it... then I put some rubber bed mat material on it. Just push down for the opener still, it's just hidden beneath the rubber... and you can see the little hole I made for the lock mechanism too, so it can still lock like normal... I also beat out the B pillar area too... Then I took it off, and put on a silver door for daily driving...
March 29, 201016 yr Very nice, looks simple and functional. Nifty way to open the door also, just don't let your arm rest there while driving and have the door pop open
March 29, 201016 yr your left side arm, face etc, is going to be really muddy after wheeling it; with the red door. I like the silver door, where did that come from
March 29, 201016 yr Some really nice guy pulled it for him in a muddy, slippy, raining junkyard. Since he lives in the middle of BFE now. LIke you do.
March 29, 201016 yr Author 2x4 you hillbilly:lol: so when am i picking this up. yes I am... Very clever! I also love the rollbar! Any thread about the building of it? -Ben http://www.indysworld.com/vehicles/1982-brat-red/82redbrat.html or the forum thread.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92202 your left side arm, face etc, is going to be really muddy after wheeling it; with the red door. I added another shot above too with the Kid messing around... and I need to find my spare door panels for the inside of the silver door yet....
March 29, 201016 yr Author Why didnt you say anything, though the one in the junkyard was pretty narley. I'm gonna re-use my gray upper, plus I have a bunch of spares just hanging around
March 29, 201016 yr Mick, I can tell you need to get ahold of some other complete Subies to part out, too bad they are going for over 500 in the beat up shape they are. All the nice ones seem to be fetching 1g or more, and een those have bad rust. this was the BEST deal i have seen for quite a while http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190382772722&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDWX%3AIT#ht_500wt_1182 Edited March 29, 201016 yr by bheinen74
March 30, 201016 yr Those look nifty as ell! Swapped doors for daily driving you drive that thing on the road....!
March 30, 201016 yr Author Those look nifty as ell! Swapped doors for daily driving you drive that thing on the road....! sure! top speed of 76 mph in 5th gear...hi/hi though it'll shake you pretty good doing it... the sammy t-case I think needs some work... and the cab noise is loud, as I don't have the shifter boots attached or anything.... ride wise for around town though, it's pretty decent... rougher than a stock soob, but it's worth it that, and the little kids stopping and saying "Wow!" is fun.... They think it's a Trophy truck, and I'm off jumping the Dunes
March 30, 201016 yr Rough rides are what Subarus were ment for, I like my cars to ride like trucks. Hmm, a Brat Trophy Truck eh... That would be cool with long travel shocks and electric cooling fans ontop!
March 30, 201016 yr Hes given that thing so many steroids its pretty much a real truck. Edited March 30, 201016 yr by The Dude Abides
