May 30, 201015 yr hey everyone, i have a 1986 BRAT and the clock in the dash always has the dots in the middle blinking and it says 1:00 every day i get in no matter what time i set it to. if i turn it off just for a little bit it will keep time. does anyone know what is going on with this thing?
May 30, 201015 yr Check the fuses first . I know it's obvious but there is one that will do exactly that when it's blown.
May 30, 201015 yr My '85 does the same thing! I still haven't figured it out. Fuses are good. I kinda like it, i have a clock on the stereo so i use the in dash as a trip timer. I shall watch this thread closely.....
May 30, 201015 yr There's some bullet connectors under the dash that allow you to disconnect the constant power to the clock - the speculation is that it's for storage, or shipping or something along those lines. The clock will work but will not keep memory as it does not have the constant power to do so. GD
June 1, 201015 yr If the clock resets every time the car is started and keeps time only while the car is running the fix that GD is talking about is correct. There are two wires that have the same color and I believe they are green both have a single bullet connector. They are located on the wiring harness under the dash on the left side. You must remove the plastic panel under the dash first to get access. I have never tested it but I am assuming one has 12V all the time and and the one that your clock may be plunged into only has 12V when the key is on. Paul
June 1, 201015 yr Author yep its green. problem solved. i didnt need to remove anything though i could get it just by peeking under the dash. thanks alot you guys:grin: hey jonas did you get your fixed? Edited June 2, 201015 yr by TIMBERTIGER
