July 27, 201015 yr I know how popular these cars are for off road racing but what about on road? There was a blue rx at richie's place that looked like it was ready to hit PIR. Why aren't more people making they're cars capable of smoking all the honda's and miata's on the road course? I'm not talking about STi's and WRX's I'd like to see a RX like the blue one mentioned above, or a 90-94 legacy. Anyone have one of these?
July 27, 201015 yr Working on it. I dusted a number of Porshces at the last PCA autoX I went to. Now that I have real race rubber (Yoko A048s), it should be a lot better. Still gutless as F*** though...
July 28, 201015 yr Author nice cars guys, i'm thinking i might go this direction with my legacy. what have you done to your suspensions, engines etc.?
July 28, 201015 yr Intake, exhaust, 2WD struts and reclocked torsion bars. Plus the tires. Thats all. Improving your driving skills will make the most difference.
July 29, 201015 yr Author I've done a little racing taken a school so i consider myself a better than average driver but as with anything there's always room for improvement. why did you go with 2wd struts? and is this principal the same for legacy's?
July 29, 201015 yr in the EA series the 2wd struts are much shorter than the 4wd struts. For a legacy I'd look at early wrx or the like.
July 29, 201015 yr From what I have read you can put 02-03 WRX struts on first gen Legacies. I'm sure there's more you can do, just search around, there have been many threads about it. Twitch
July 29, 201015 yr in the EA series the 2wd struts are much shorter than the 4wd struts. Eh, more like 1" lower, not huge, but I don't have positive camber anymore!
July 29, 201015 yr theres a WRX STI racing improved production here in australia. all the trick bits Ie rally car with differnt struts adn a 6 speed gearbox, the car is just so light, plastic pannels and the like.
July 30, 201015 yr Author anyone have a ball park figure on how much weight you lose by ditching the interior?
July 31, 201015 yr Author id say upwards of 100 kg.but thats just an estimate. that's 230lbs for those on this side of the pond. not too shabby
August 21, 201015 yr Author which while a pain in the arse would most likely be done if you've got the carpet out anyways. What kind of horsepower can you get out of a stock ej22 with out forced induction and on a $1000 budget?
August 21, 201015 yr I've been told by a well versed tuner that with cams and ecu tuning (stand alone probably) 160 hp can be made more if you want to get nuts. The heads apparently are the bottle neck they run out of breath. I imagine a good port and polish job can fix that. Edited August 21, 201015 yr by vagen
August 22, 201015 yr Author so ecu, cai intake, port-polish heads, full exhaust. think 200hp is attainable?
September 9, 201015 yr I think if you want 200+hp you would be better building a Frankinmotor. that is a 2.5 bottom end with your 2.2 heads.
September 9, 201015 yr Often you ditch the interior and then end up putting in a roll cage that weighs more than the interior you removed. Race seats can be had that are significantly lighter than stock seats, removing the passenger seat for another one, and removing the entire back seat adds up. Door panels, stereo, speakers and even removing cruise control can add up too.
December 1, 201015 yr From what I have read you can put 02-03 WRX struts on first gen Legacies.I'm sure there's more you can do, just search around, there have been many threads about it. Twitch I can verify that sti struts will fit into a '95 lego without mods. It lowered my car about 1.5 inches and drastically improved the handling characteristics of the car even though it is a wagon. Anyways, I've noticed that Subaru has a habit of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
