August 18, 201015 yr seat came out of a 1992 Ford Escort GT like this one.... http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/1671/1801/29175900008_large.jpg all I had to do was narrow the hole distance on the soob ea81 rails, by maybe 1/8" and they bolted right on, with the soob fasteners.... much more comfortable.... and no piece of metal poking me in the back anymore....
March 24, 201115 yr I found out seats all the way up to at least 99 Escorts will fit. The rails seem to be the same on all of them ( I looked at a bunch,) but the GT seats have the nice bolsters and such. Thanks to this board and the search feature, got new seats for $50, and thirty minutes of my time. Side by side comparison tells the tale. Much better support. These are probably comparable to what's found in a Mazda Protege of the same era. The difference being, there were a dozen Escorts, and one Mazda. Happy hunting. Dan
March 24, 201115 yr I wanted something a little more stylish/sporty with more adjustments. I picked up a pair of Mitsubishi Eclipse (turbo) seats for $25 total. I have a pair of these seats (N/A) in my Brat and love them. BUT, as the EA81 and EA82 are quite different, the install was more complicated in the RX than Brat. A lot more cutting and welding to make the rails work and the seats to sit correctly. It took me 2+ days to fab everything, but it was worth it in the end.
