September 28, 201015 yr what would be a good exhaust system for my 1982 subaru brat 1.8l? i want a low bass sound not a ricer
September 28, 201015 yr Magnaflow or flowmaster, Dont worry about the ricer sound. Subarus have a sound or there own.
September 28, 201015 yr Change nothing other than the muffler. The rest is not a significant restriction. Personally I like the low-buck method - cut the muffler off and bend a new section of pipe to replace it. Not actually that loud with no muffler. Or a cherry-bomb works too. GD
September 28, 201015 yr Or a cherry-bomb works too These sound pretty good also. Just gives it a little deeper tone. I myself have ran without a muffler with the tail pipe extended, but that created a little backfiring. Have also ran with a supertrap on the back. Either way you go, its better then the huge fiberglass packed trash can thats on there now.
September 28, 201015 yr I have a full 2" stainless steel exhaust on my EA81 with a magnaflow muffler. At idle its nice and quiet with a slight burble. When i get on it it sounds pretty damn mean. Its not so loud that i get tired of it on long trips either. Its my daily so i tried to make it sound good without being obnoxious.

September 28, 201015 yr couldnt even get that far. I guess my computer doesnt recognize that im trying to upload a video (mac). So...no idea how to do it. I have a canon and i cant even open the camera on the desktop. Sorry but i looked around and i guess i need a usb adapter so that i can plug the memory card right into the adapter and do it that way. Edit...disregard that i figured it out. Here is the video on youtube. Enjoy. Not the best sound quality but you get the idea. Edited September 28, 201015 yr by hatchsub
September 28, 201015 yr I had the bass turned up on my computer and that was shakin things around my desk. AWESOME!
September 28, 201015 yr I have a hollowed out cat with 2" into a single in dual out magnaflow on the EJ18. I could give a sound clip later if you would like it. Its a little differant being ej'd but still a little more raspy being there is no cat.

Its a little differant being ej'd but still a little more raspy being there is no cat. Yea i still have a cat on mine. Forgot to mention that. The exhaust shop that built the exhaust would not build it without a cat so i said fine lol. Its probably better that way anyways since 2 inch primaries are a bit big so i dont mind the slight backpressure from the cat.
September 28, 201015 yr Here is a clip of my Brat's setup. Hard to hear with the studded tires but it has a nice rumble when i get goin.
October 27, 201015 yr what would be a good exhaust systems for my 1982 subaru brat 1.8l? i want a low bass sound not a ricer I think you should give it a cherry bomb exhaust systems. That's good for it. Edited November 1, 201015 yr by gojrracing
October 27, 201015 yr Go with GD's advice, but when you chop the muffler, size the remaining pipe up to 2 1/2" or 3" and that will give you that deeper tone you're looking for.
