  1. Great weekend, hope yall made it home ok. Chumstick road definitely was a good choice, very fun. And even though it was windy im glad we went to lake wenatchee. Thanks for coming everyone, it was a good time and good to see you all again. -Andy
  2. 30% sounds great, you usually can get away with 60% and only get a drizzle for a few minutes. Gotta love this side of the mountains for that at least
  3. We could do that, maybe even make a loop out of it (up chumstick down hwy 2) I will be in Leavenworth almost all weekend, plan to still meet at the safeway at the east end of town. If anything comes up or anyone needs anything my cell is 253-381-6539, shoot me a call or text. -Andy
  4. Should be a great weekend! I found a new alternative for camping, http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&qscrl=1&gl=us&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=685&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=tumwater+campground+leavenworth&fb=1&gl=us&hq=tumwater+campground+leavenworth&hnear=tumwater+campground+leavenworth&cid=0,0,9951026098542253938&ei=zYrcTZOEB4vGsAPJ_8SUBw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBcQnwIwAA That is where i plan to stay, its free on the other side of the road from this campground. Never been there myself but heard there are pit toilets and its decent. And its a good location for the weekend. For any of you who are going to be in Leavenworth before sunday there are some events to check out on saturday. The Professor Paddle Ball http://www.professorpaddle.com/balls/2011/ will be goin on throughout the day and should be fun to watch if your into kayaking. Also a couple of my buddies will be will be running the tumwater canyon with the creature craft crew on saturday, that will be a sight to see, its going to be some big water kinda like this Anyways hope you all are as excited as i am for this weekend -Andy
  5. Umtanum creek is a really cool trail. I go mountain biking on it every once in a while. Sorry the camping isnt as straight forward as it could be, if it werent for the mud slide i would know exactly where a good free spot is near Leavenworth.
  6. This is where we camped last year http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1C1CHMY_enUS310US310&q=47.191739,-120.586581&qscrl=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x549a23d5369cae8f:0x71ea3aa744f85d58,%2B47%C2%B0+11'+30.35%22,+-120%C2%B0+35'+11.66%22&gl=us&ei=IODRTYvxEo-asAPOrpmPCQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBcQ8gEwAA
  7. Still the same deal, depends on whether you want to pay to camp or not. Pay to stay at 8 mile up icicle creek canyon, or there is a koa in Leavenworth. Or you can head up icicle and camp somewhere in the woods. There is free camping way up the canyon but you cant get there until the mud slide is cleaned up which may or may not happen before that weekend. And if you dont mind being a little further from leavenworth there is last years spot. -Andy
  8. of course im in! Ill be bringing a little of everything (burgers, dogs, brats) and a little grill. I was up in Leavenworth this last weekend, didnt have much time to explore but it seems icicle creek rd still has the slide just above 8 mile campground. So as far as camping near Leavenworth, 8 mile is an option but you have to pay. I was talking to some climbers from Seattle that were staying the weekend and they were camping near the boulders and even in one of the parking lots. Usually there is a good chance to get booted for camping out there but lately there hasnt been any case, so thats another option. I will most likely be staying out there somewhere, ill get a specific spot figured out soon, but somewhere up icicle creek. I didnt get out to lake Wenatchee, but i was at the swiftwater pick nick area. It has a ton of space for parking and bbqing, along with pick nick tables and toilets. So at least that is a good back up if lake Wenatchee is too busy. Getting closer
  9. ^That works I like to say its a Brat enthusiast gathering, anyone and everyone is invited unless you drive a honda or something... -Andy
  10. Do you think that had anything to do with the rear window washer fluid? It stopped pumping water to the window a while ago. -Andy
  11. Im hoping to get out to leavenworth this next weekend for a little climbing, while im there i can get more details about camping and what not. I know i will be camping out there all memorial weekend with some climbing buddies, so you guys can join us wherever we end up camping if you would like. Ill get that figured out asap. -Andy
  12. Its time for our second annual Subaru BRAT Meet! Date - Sunday, May 29th Location - Leavenworth, WA Event - BBQ Details - We will be gathering in Leavenworth on Sunday. Initial meeting spot will be at the Leavenworth Safeway http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1C1CHMY_enUS310US310&qscrl=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=leavenworth,+wa+safeway&fb=1&gl=us&hq=safeway&hnear=Leavenworth,+WA&cid=0,0,18314805689797897597&ei=oDS2TYKEMJL0tgOj2sCpAQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&ved=0CCQQnwIwAQ Between 10:30am and 11:00am. We will be leaving Leavenworth around 11 and heading up hwy 2 to Lake Wenatchee where we will have a bbq (if that spot is too busy then we will head to Swiftwater Picnic Area on hwy 2). After that the day is yours; hang out as long as you want, head into Leavenworth, head for the 4x4 trails, go rock climbing, its up to you! BBQ Details - This will be a potluck style bbq, bring any and all types of food you want! I myself will bring some burgers, dogs, and bratwurst with buns and some condiments. The grill i have is pretty small, so if anyone has a grill they are willing to bring then please do, if anything mine will work. Camping Details - For those who camp there are options. There are campgrounds in and around Leavenworth that would work. Or there is last years location up Reecer Creek Road north of Ellensburg. Assume there to be as much as an hours drive to Leavenworth from Ellensburg. There may be a group of us heading up to the Funny Rocks in the Naches area either the day before or the day after. Not planning to do any hard wheeling, mostly going to watch people flip on the rocks, but we can wheel as hard as we would like. Last years meet was a lot of fun, and I hope that this year will be just as good if not better. So who's coming? p.s. - Details subject to change if necessary.
  13. Runnin yet? When i get home tonight i want to hear that thing running Then we can make a quick run to the hills to test both our rigs this week after class
  14. Why didnt i do that Awesome stuff Brian
  15. ^ I hear ya on that. I dont know if Leavenworth is busy or not on that weekend, but i think it will all work out in the end. It cant be as busy as oktoberfest i hope. For camping i will try to get details about possibilities, if we can stay somewhere up icicle creek that would be great. But the place up near table mountain (last years spot) i think would do just fine, its not too far away, and since we would already be up the forest roads we could continue on them to hwy 97 at the top of blewitt pass to save time (if the snow is clear). And im hoping that even if its busy it can still work out ok. The plan as i see it is to just meet up in leavenworth (like at the park and ride, or safeway, something like that) then cruise up the highway or take the back roads to lake wenatchee and have lunch. A back up plan i have in mind if lake wenatchee is packed is to shoot for swiftwater picknick area, its right on the river and hwy 2. So there are options, as long as we get together and have a "meet" then ill be happy -Andy
  16. Last year there were fires closer to cashmere, back in 94 or 95 there was a huge fire that swept through icicle creek canyon and cleared a ton of trees on the south south side of the canyon
  17. Lets go for bbq potluck style. We can do burgers, dogs, BRATwurst and whatever else sounds good I personally have never been to lake wenatchee, but it looks like there is space. I know for sure i will be in leavenworth a couple times before the meet so i can go check it out. And ill do some research on camping and get more info on what options we have. -Andy
  18. Update on camping options 8 mile groupsite might be our best option if we are doing leavenworth. It is in the icicle creek canyon. Although things might be complicated due to nature, there was recently a huge mudslide just up canyon from 8 mile. I dont know if that affects that camp ground but i do know that the other places to camp further up icicle creek are now unreachable. 8 mile would suffice for campers, you do have to pay and it may be busy but its something. There is always the option of going primitive like last year, but i do not know where you can do that around leavenworth. Climbers like to try and camp in icicle creek canyon near the boulders and such, but the rangers do check and they do kick you out. I will try to look at other options. As far as date I myself am getting pretty booked up for the weekends near memorial day. M day weekend is the only thing that can and will stay open for me. I know that it is nearly impossible to accommodate everyone, so we just got to go with it. It worked out well last year, there was a better turnout than i could have ever hoped for. So lets give it another shot. Memorial day weekend, sunday will be the main get together. Cruise from leavenworth out to lake wenatchee and have a bbq, eat some food, chat, show off our awesome subaru brats, then do as you please (watch people roll at funny rocks? ). Last year was tons of fun and overall a success in my view, so lets do it again. What do ya say? -Andy

  20. I think memorial weekend gives us the elbow room we need. The weekend is long enough to do more than just a Brat meet. I have a group of climbers that go to leavenworth every year for memorial to kick off the season. And since ive been driving my Brat around town ive had several random people saying i should head up to funny rocks for memorial. I plan to do all the above throughout the weekend
  21. Does anyone know if there is a "picnic" area of some sorts at Lake Wenatchee? Ive never been up there. I was thinking we could meet up in Leavenworth and cruise out to lake Wenatchee and have a little bbq.
  22. Yea i think weather is up in the air either way. And i wouldnt say brat only, but rather brat mostly Anyone who is a Brat enthusiast can and should come for a casual get together. Plus i think the Beast might show off its new carbed ej22
  23. ^ Good point, though if we get into june we start to hit that big offroad meet or the No Alibi TSD rally, i already cant decide between the two What about two weeks before memorial, the 14th?
  24. I know the weekend before does not work for me, weekend of and after does. but thats just me.
