eh nothin a BFH cant solve but yea 2 inch lift is more than worth it just as a reminder, 2inch strut lift works well with ea82's and not with ea81's what kind of subie are we talking about here anyway? -Andy
-
Also if you look here http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=110173 you will see that JacksonRally got 28's under his rig with no lift -Andy
-
27in with no lift, little cutting on the front lower part of the fender to reduce rubbing on turns. Works great and yes FAQ has everything you need to know so look there too but i know pictures are worth a thousand words -Andy
-
bumpin this up i know there are more subies out there and i know you wanna come
-
So i did have to use the shovel after all, but it wasnt for me and here is another Some pretty good wheelin for just an hour or two, plan to do more on thursday, anyone else wanna come? -Andy
-
Made a mount for my full size shovel finally. I wanted to use those quick fist rubber clamps but i couldnt find any locally. But a little trip to ace and 5 bucks later it works all the same used two of those flat rubber bungee cords and a bolt through the side in the bed, the rest speaks for itself in the pics now i will never leave it behind again hopefully i wont need it later today when i go up to manastash ridge for a little fun -Andy

Ok so i think i got everything rigged up right in the engine bay Pretty much pulled every line that seemed unneeded. So the only things i left plugged in are the fuel line, the line from the distributor to the front of the carb, the two vacuum lines (at least i think they are vacuum lines) on each side of the engine got plugged into the air cleaner, and the two lines off the valve covers both got plugged into the pcv valve. Seems to run better than previously so i call it good here is a somewhat "before" picture of the engine bay with the hitachi minus air cleaner and here are present pictures with the weber! look at all this extra space to do activities here you can see the pcv and vacuum stuff i did next tasks on the list is mount for shovel and organization for off road equipment. and i guess i should fix that oil leak just for fun i found a picture of when i got REALLY stuck last week. all i had was a scissor jack and hands to dig her out. fun stuff! -Andy

there are plenty of dunes out here in eastern washington too! beverly, moses lake, juniper, all without salt

just read up about the ea82 doj's, i see what you mean. so it seems that rear ea81 axles with ea82 doj's swapped in, plus welded diff equals the best way to wheel a stockish brat eh? sounds like i need to take a trip to toppenish oh and another thing, my buddy/roommate just joined this board and is looking to lift his 05 rs. Rob said you might be looking for a rig to use to make lifts for new gen subies. He is more than willing of course to let you do so, i also have a 97 obs -Andy

pics! a little stuck have some video too, ill get that later things i learned- -my transmission sucks, doesnt want to shift while in 4 low, but ill deal with it till i get money for a 5 speed -a lift would help out a lot so i dont bottom out, but isnt totally necessary right now since the snow will be gone soon -ALWAYS bring a shovel, i have no clue why i forgot it -need to get a high lift jack so i dont have to use a small scissor jack anymore when i bottom out -need bumpers that can handle the jack -and most important, i need to weld my diff! it was really annoying having only 2 wheels working most of the time overall i was pleased at how she did, better than i would have hoped for. nothing broken which is always good. i dont have any money to do any real big mods like a lift, tires, bumpers, 5speed, and so on. so ill have to find the best way to wheel with what i got on a budget. i should still be able to have plenty of fun without the clearance. i think if i have more recovery gear and come more prepared in general i will be fine. so next on the list is to make a mount for a shovel in the bed, and get some containers to hold the smaller gear behind the seats. im thinking amo boxes might do the trick since they arent too wide. also i think a welded diff would be a cheap way to gain a lot of off road ability. anyone wanna weld my diff? please? -Andy
-
today will be test day! takin a trip up into the hills with my buddy to see how the clearance and weber make for a better offroad machine i think there will still be snow so it should be fun pics to come!

Hello, New to the forum

yup -
trust me i read ive spent more hours reading than actually working on my brat problem is that im not real tech savy yet and dont understand it all, still in the learning process from what ive seen you basically plug up and or get rid of most of the lines in there, but there is something with the pcv that your suppose to do and thats what i dont know about. i mean its running just fine with everything plugged up so i might just take it all off and plug it better and call it good. but if im missing something id rather fix it now than later. -Andy

Weber carb installed! Despite the ridiculous weather yesterday good pea size hail storm i have no clue what to do with all the extra hoses, it said plug up everything except the distributer hose and of course gas line, so everything is kinda plugged up and i know that the filter is too tall, but forgot that when i ordered it. no worries should work so its installed and seems to be working great! still concerned about all the hoses and not knowing what to do with them, but it runs and thats all i care about -Andy

Ive been sport climbing for just under a year so im still kinda new too, but i think going to smith rock a few times broke me in :-p i dont know how much sport climbing there is in leavenworth, all i know is the bouldering. ill have to talk to my buddies who know the area more and find out what the sport scene is like. but i know i can get a bunch of crash pads down there and we can have an awesome time -
got some goodies in the mail installed the cb and pa today should get the weber in sometime this week if i can figure it out. we shall see how it goes -Andy

there is good wheelin in the liberty area, its probably the closest you will find to cashmere. you can take forest service roads from cashmere to some of the trails. when the snow clears up i will probably be hitting up this area a lot with the brat to learn and explore the trials check out this link http://nwjeepn.com/WAtrails.htm#liberty -
Well im back from a long week of driving and climbing and lots more driving. looks like we are keeping the date where its at. I wish it could work out for everyone but thats just the way it goes i guess. But we must press on and make this meet awesome!

if anyone has the trad gear i would definitely be up for some climbing! im too cheap for trad, plus its all about the bouldering in leavenworth if anyone is wondering about offroading in the area you should come out to the brat meet, we should be hitting up some of the local trails then -
I hear ya on that. The main reason that weekend was chosen was so that people arent rushed and there is more opportunity to make it out. You have saturday to drive here, sunday for the main event, and monday to drive home since its a holiday. This helps a lot for those who have a long drive or those who might work regular weekends. Also we needed to get a date out there now so people could plan ahead. Only a few people chimed in on the other thread about what dates seemed better. So theoretically the date can be moved if it appeals to the majority. But it has to be done soon so people can plan for it. Id say the date is open for discussion and if there are no real objection we could change, otherwise id like to keep it where its at. Ill be gone this whole next week climbing some rocks down south, when i get back ill check up on how things turned out with this subject and a decision will have to be made. So try to get people talkin and figure things out. I hope for a good turnout and an awesome meet so lets do it! Have a good week -Andy
-
Sorry the dates not workin out for ya Rob. There will be more to come though . The rest of the trials up at liberty/table mt open up june 15th, i think we have to have a mini offroad meet some point this summer either their or manastash -Andy

Exhaust is done! Sounds really nice video doesn't do it much justice but you get an idea. has a nice deep sound when the revs get up. basic set up is gutted cat with straight pipe all the way back to a twister glasspack on the end. -Andy

The Bi-Drive Recreational All-Terrain Transporter Meet for 2010 is on! Date: May 29-31 Location: Ellesnburg, WA General Schedule (Subject to Change) Saturday May 29th: -Meet at Winegars http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1C1CHMY_enUS310US310&sourceid=chrome&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=1013+E+University+Way%0AEllensburg,+WA+98926&fb=1&gl=us&hnear=1013+E+University+Way%0AEllensburg,+WA+98926&cid=0,0,5595977112535483288&ei=DB2jS6zzA43ctgOsivjUAw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAkQnwIwAA at 5pm for a meet and greet with some of the best homemade ice cream on the planet! From there, around 6pm, we will be heading to the main camping area for the weekend (See *Camping Details*). It is located north of Ellensburg up Reecer Creek Road. The rest of the nights activities will be up to those who are camping out (camp fire? marshmallows?). Sunday May 30th: -Meet in downtown Ellensburg (exact location to be determind) at 10am to prepare for the drive through the Yakima River Canyon. We will be departing at 11am so please be there on time! The destination will be Miners Drive-In in Yakima, bring an apatite because the meals are BIG. We should arrive around 12pm, here are directions http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Ellensburg,+WA&daddr=46.80523,-120.435562+to:2415+South+1st+Street,+Yakima,+WA&geocode=FSIczQId-ZXQ-CkxjjqyMvKZVDEXCcBMYduw-A%3B%3BFXKMxgIdTJTR-CkdhGaGJNaZVDG3Rzk_0LG9hA&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=11&via=1&sll=46.763384,-120.421143&sspn=0.265284,0.617294&ie=UTF8&ll=46.764324,-120.428009&spn=0.265279,0.617294&t=h&z=11 After lunch (hopefully before 2pm) we will head back to Ellensburg through the canyon to where we started. At that location will be the "car show" (or should i say truck show? ). It will hopefully start at 3pm and end before 5pm (See *Car Show Details*). After the show i would assume a group would want to have some fun offroad. And I would hope to have a nice camp fire social at the campsite. Monday May 31st: -Mostly a day to drive home if you haven't already Camping Details You can camp out or stay in, the main camping spot will be up Reecer Creek road where it will be primitive style camping with paved access. There are also lots of hotels in town if you wish to stay indoors. Also there is a KOA in town if you wish to have less primitive camping. As far as the main campsite goes there are several options for camping spots but my hope is to get the large field right off the road, directions are here http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Ellensburg,+WA&daddr=Forest+Service+Rd+3500&hl=en&geocode=FSIczQId-ZXQ-CkxjjqyMvKZVDEXCcBMYduw-A%3BFaAY0AIdpwDQ-A&mra=ls&sll=47.192279,-120.586023&sspn=0.016448,0.038581&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=11 the area mainly sees camping during hunting season so there shouldn't be much competition at all for spots. As far as i know campfires should be allowed, i will look further into that to make sure. For those who want to have some fun offroad here is a list of trails in that area http://nwjeepn.com/WAtrails.htm#liberty. I hope to explore more of the area before the meet but if anyone has experience driving these trails then speak up! Car Show The car show will consist of a "show and shine" and a public vote for top three BRATs. Winners will receive medals (gold, silver, and bronze hubcaps) and bragging rights. The plan is for registration to open when we get back from Yakima (around 3pm). Registration will consist of being assigned a number so people can vote for your BRAT. Voting will begin soon after and will end by 4pm. Votes will be counted and winners will be announced and receive the awesome prize Anyone is more than welcome to attend. If you own a BRAT you have to come. If you own a subaru you should definitely come. If you like BRATs or subarus in general then you should come! i know that the 2 inch lift works well with ea82, their axles can handle it much better than ea81's. So im just gonna wait it out and go big! till then ill deal with the little rubbing on off camber stuff and what not. I probably will rally it a little this season before the lift though. At least till the vw rabbit is ready to race
-
Yea they tuck in nice, and turn well after a little work with the snips and bfh It will definitely be good to go for the brat meet I need to get back on that, ill post up a new thread tomorrow and get this ball rollin
