  1. Back from break bump Lets get some more ideas or at least chime in if you like the ideas presented so we can get things set soon. -Andy
  2. Great stuff Brian, glad to see she is getting some love. I still dont think you can get it dirtier than i have -Andy
  3. I really like the idea of Leavenworth. I'm over there all the time for the climbing. There would be plenty of things to keep us busy like enjoying the town with its awesome food, exploring some twisty roads with great scenery, there is also offroading not too far away if anyone is up for that. If we do stay up icicle creek canyon then we cant pass up on the bouldering since its right there, or if anyone is really up for some climbing there are endless possibilities ranging from sport and trad crags to multi pitch big walls even alpine if people want to hike. I have all the gear we need Anyways back to the topic on hand... Leavenworth sounds like a good place, still open for ideas though. Time is still up for discussion so throw out some ideas, if you like memorial day weekend or if you would like a different weekend let it be heard. I would like to have date and location figured out before the end of march or sooner. Great ideas guys keep em comin -Andy ps- This might be my last post for a bit, spring break has started and im headed to Smith Rock, Oregon to do some climbing
  4. Well its about that time of year again folks, finally starting to see more sun than snow. And what better way to kick off spring and summer than a get together with our beloved BRATs! Just looking for ideas of time and location now. We can do ellensburg again or somewhere else. Just keep in mind that there was a large fallowing of people from the east side last year so lets not make them drive too far. Memorial day weekend worked great for some people last year because it gave them more time to travel and what not. Some people have plans that weekend every year. So lets throw out some ideas and get the ball rolling! -Andy
  5. Been a few months of slow progression but its finally back home! Re did the shift linkage with a dual shifter setup Bill made, now i can have hi/low front wheel drive! Here is a cool before-after shot to see how high 6in can be (27" tire size in both) Made a quick rear bumper too. Still need to build a custom exhaust and connect some of the lift blocks for strength. And i still need to get a driveline in there. But after that she is ready to wheel -Andy
  6. last years run was the reason i started looking for a Brat, and now i get to bring one no more bottoming out in that silly impreza -Andy
  7. So i can beat you with my fast OBS? Plannin on maybe gettin back into it next season, finally have money again
  8. Its all relative. I myself have never driven or even taken a ride in a turbo charged car. So i still think my OBS is fast, and when i put a weber on my Brat wow what a ride
  9. Well i can only get down to Bills every once in a while, and only for a few hours in the evenings, so its a slow goin process. But in a couple weeks yea everything should be replaced -Andy
  10. Glad to see your getting back to this one. If ya ever need help im always around. Hopefully soon we can both get our Brats out of Bills pasture -Andy
  11. EJ18 hits its peak torque at lower rpm's than the 22, but it hits its peak horse power higher than the 22. And from talking to Jerry and seeing his hatch set up the wiring is much more simple with the 18. In my opinion the 18 is perfect for an offroad rig. It has more power than ea motors but not too much that you would break axles all day, the wiring is simple and they can take a lot of punishment and keep goin. I believe a ea81 with the right mods (weber and such) is good enough for an offroader, but if i ever feel the need to swap to ej ill be goin for the 18. -Andy
  12. I have jump seats installed in my 86 Brat. And after goin through the laws i havent found anything that says you cant. Just says you need a seat belt. And as far as the way its installed it says "The state patrol shall adopt and enforce standards as to what constitutes adequate and safe seat belts and for the fastening and installation of them." So i guess it comes down to whether the cop thinks its safe or not. At least thats the way i interpret it http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.61.688 http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.37.510 **note** this is washington law and not colorado Cool idea btw -Andy
  13. Ive ran my Brat without doors, one thing i gotta say are those doors are heavy so it seemed worth it to remove them while wheelin. But it wasnt so fun to drive down the highway without doors. My plan is to either gut the stock doors to make them lighter, make them into half doors, or build custom tube doors. If i can make half or tube doors but also have a way to close a window of some sort that would be awesome. Dont jeeps use some sort of canvas soft window that they can remove on half doors? -Andy
  14. Bill doesnt have internet right now, best way to get ahold oh him is to call. 509-391-5903 I head down to his place often (my Brat is down there right now) so if your interested i can give him a heads up, but id say give him a call too. He makes great stuff by the way -Andy

    opinion

All i have to say is i have pushed my OBS just has hard as my Brat. I did rallycross for a few years and still do TSD's and that can put some hard abuse on the impreza and it takes it without a sweat. And i think the reason you dont see many imprezas showing up for cheap is because they are all still being used If my OBS wasnt my daily/once in a while rally car i would lift it in a heart beat. But thats why i bought a Brat -Andy
  16. Here is a clip of my Brat's setup. Hard to hear with the studded tires but it has a nice rumble when i get goin.
  17. As far as in know they should be removable. If its like any other subaru axle it should have an internal circlip that keeps the joint from coming apart. It requires a brass punch and some force but it should come off. Ive always been more of a visual learner so i like youtube, here is a good video of what to do even though its an atv axle its the same concept. The removal process comes in around 3min. I use a brass punch that i notched out a bit so it sits against the axle shaft better, hitting as close the the shaft as you can (on the inner race) will make the cv come off easier. -Andy
  18. Success! I finally got those mystical axle boots in and they fit so In Conclusion: -For all EA81 and EA82 axles that have joints no larger than about 3 inches in diameter use part number 85-0911 (outer joint) and 85-0999 (inner joint) This should be all standard 4wd axles -If you stumble upon axles with joints larger than 3 inches in diameter use part number 85-1424 (inner joint) and 85-1367 (outer joint) This could be fwd rx axles or something else, either way they are unmistakably larger. Somthing to note, these part numbers are for Carquest supplied Carquest brand boot kits. The kits come with good quality boots, metal bands, and grease packs. All should be under ten bucks. So if your redoing axles and you have a carquest nearby use these part numbers, and if your unsure just take a cv or doj joint in with you to test fit. Hope this has been helpful -Andy
  19. Hey man not much, hows it goin with you? Enjoying the rain?

  20. getting closer definitely needing larger tires, going for these http://www.treadwright.com/shopnow/product/tabid/61/productid/8/sename/23575r15-crawler-mt-c.aspx -Andy
  21. AH i wish i could make it, the brat would be perfect for this when its done. Need another week or two though -Andy
  22. Good info guys, keep it comin Good news on my part too, the 2wd rx boot measures out to around 3 1/2 inch diameter which should fit on the larger doj cup. Should be getting it to my local store soon. getting closer -Andy
  23. I do like the look of 12 inch lift with 32 mud terrains, but yes 6 is the way to go. We might even do one inch difference in the front between strut blocks and body blocks because im also switching to bills special beefed up ea82 control arms and ea82 axles. Im also hoping to recreate his special beefed up front end like so And we might be doing some beefing up on the rocker panels. Basically everything is getting beefy Eventually i might even grab bills 4.11 trans and do a yota 4.10 solid rear. Good thing i have a job now so i can dream big. -Andy
  24. He got it recently i guess. Its awesome, lets us have fun and do stuff like this       -Andy
