Oil level seems fine. I'll know more in the morning. Hard to inspect at midnight on the side of the street.

its the time of year things break when the temps start to cool off.

 

Also the time of year stray cats take shelter within the hood where it is warm.

 

first check is the alternator belt as mentioned. Hopefully that is what happened. hopefully cat is ok

what's your plan? i just priced out heads for a friends car - used heads are about $100 each.

No. Probably going to replace it with an ej22 from lkq. They got it for 500ish.

yep, that's a fine solution.

 

was that Ej25 previously overheated or headgaskets replaced?

since the block is still good and demand is high you can probably recoupe some of the costs of the new motor for the EJ25 block. heck you can probably get close to the cost of the motor for it.

reminds me of this green legacy sedan I saw last year when we got all this snow.. it was spinning like crazy to get up the hill only the fronts spun.

I just ordered an ej22 from LKQ. I got the lifetime warranty and in 06 the engine had 58k miles on it. Total cost: $865

 

Should arrive on thursday or so.
