1983 ea81 EGR thread size?

Featured Replies

Wanting to plug the erg pipe that runs from the passenger side head to the intake. Is it an NPT thread or metric or standard? All the bolts and plugs in my tool box didn't fit:mad:

I have blocked off the egr with a plate. Are you sure that pipe is not venting anything back into the manifold? If for no other reason than to clean up the messy look if its not necessary. Thank you for your reply.

Block off plate isnt even neccesary. Without a vacuum supply the valve is its own block off plate. The thread is definitely metric.... Probably M16 x 1.5. But you can easily make a plug from the old tube with a bit of welding.

or brazing? Looks like the tube is brass. Thanks for everyones input. Love this forum.

Old thread, but I measured tonight and can confirm GD's estimate of 16mm is spot on. Bel-metric carries some fairly cheap M16x1.5 plugs if you don't have access to a welder.

Or cut the tube just past the fitting, mash it flat with a hammer, then fold it over and pinch it tight with said hammer.

Auto parts stores also carry an easy egr plug, it's an m16x1.5 oil drain plug.

Think seen spark plug scewrd in same hole make it a fourteen mm . is that 2.0 mm pitch?
