April 22, 201213 yr did heads on an 02 outback h-6....there are 12 of these in the head kit...anyone know what these are for?
April 22, 201213 yr Author thats what i thought at first...but they dont quite fit right, and there arent enough of them, and there werent any there when i took the valve covers off...i know there usually are...but the h-6 must be different.
April 22, 201213 yr Hopefully someone who knows the H6 like the back of their hand will chime in. It looks like the same washer they use in the bottom of the power steering pump reservoir on the 4 cyl cars. Kinda figured it might have something to do with oil, but I don't know that engine very well. (at all)
April 22, 201213 yr head bolt washers ? 12 wouldn't be enough would it, 16 bolts, right? are they metal or fiber or plastic?
April 25, 201213 yr Could it be a sealing washer that goes between the timing cover and block & heads? Dave
April 26, 201213 yr Author what kind of head gaskets are you using? it was a set straight from the dealer.
April 26, 201213 yr http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b12/type_33/engine/engine_gasket_and_seal_kit/ Doing reverse engineering, there are only 4 items that have 12 units. ie: seals for exhaust/intake valves, circlips and cylinder block washers, which I assume (never assume) go on the head bolts. O.
April 26, 201213 yr Part numbers help! It's number 6 http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b12/type_8/engine/cylinder_block/illustration_2/ They go on some of the bolts that hold the block halves together. And they use them in EVERY engine. http://opposedforces.com/parts/info/11034AA000/
