What does this hose do?

Featured Replies

Since I 'upgraded' to an L-series I have been wondering about the purpose of a certain hose, connected to the air filter box, that doesn't go anywhere...

It is just a right-angle hose, same size as the PCV hoses, and the inlet inside the filter box is covered by a rubber flap while the other end is uncovered and finishes above one of the cam carriers.

Just wondering what it does?

thanks... :)

I've seen it on the air filter boxes of two carby EA-82's. I would think that the suction inside the airbox would make the engine breath in air through this extra hose as well?

it goes nowhere, except your bucket of parts, remove it the drain is a hole in the front of the air box

which pic could you not open?

iirc, you can remove the componets marked with red :brow:

What is that plastic fitting with the red mark on it that is attached to the PCV system? That has confounded me for quite some time.

that little hose next to the strut tower is a vent hose for the fuel system, or a return line, leave that, the other bigger ones going into that square box, is you ari suction valve system. you can remove those hacksaw the pipes off and weld them shut. or just stick a sparkplug down the biggest hose, and its blocked off.
