1979 Wagon - 56K miles

You don't need a new head, or even removing the one that's in there.:rolleyes: You can get a kit to re thread the spark plug hole and add an insert, then thread the plug back in. I had to do this on an old car I had, worked great.

 

wouldn't rethreading it make really small pieces of metal go through the engine?

Heli-Coil has saved my life more than once!

 

Make sure once you installed the Heli-Coil insert, that you use a needle-nose and break off the tap before hand before threading the spark plug in (Don't want that little tap sitting on top of the piston)
