January 3, 201313 yr Got to looking at the fuel pump on my 86' Brat, no wonder I'm smelling gas in the garage when go to leave for work. The piece that is screwed into the receiving end of the pump seems to be leaking fuel. I can hear the pump run when I'm at a low enough idle or moving slow enough, I'm just wondering if I should replace the pump? Thoughts?http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii527/DInky261/IMAG0419.jpg
January 5, 201313 yr I would just remove the fitting, throw some teflon tape on the threads and tighten it back up, should be good. If the pump is not faulty, don't replace. Just a leaky fitting. -Wes
January 8, 201313 yr Author Just noticed the other day that I can here the fuel pump surging with my turn signal on anybody think this could be an issue down the the road?

Never had an issue. I have used it for coolant sensor threads as well, it isn't just for air. If you can't throw an O-ring on there, Teflon tape is the only option you have. Is there other options you know of? -Wes
January 10, 201313 yr Take a piece of teflon tape and drop some gas on it and let it set a bit and let me know what happens. Im not sayin it wont work. I just wouldnt trust it. Heck ive even used it for a variety of things myself:)
January 10, 201313 yr Author I actually tried some 257 threadlock, I haven't checked it yet. The guy at Oriellys pointed it out says it is resistant to gas, went to put away and found another tube just like it, only not new:banghead::banghead:
January 11, 201313 yr Just noticed the other day that I can here the fuel pump surging with my turn signal on anybody think this could be an issue down the the road?..google this problem and you will find thousands who have asked the same question..usually tired or slow responding voltage regulators..don't expect a rebuilt alt. to help here because most rebuilds never exchange the reg. unless they have to with a poorer quality one from asia..
