EA81 special care and feeding tips?

Featured Replies

I havent been on in awhile, but i have kept the subaru bug, with a brief detour into a jeep (very bad idea lol)

I've recently aquired an 82 ea, 4spd, d/r. I'm wondering if there are any special needs for these lil guys.

Don't get it wet. Don't feed it after midnight.

But what if i want it to multiply, and get all evil n ugly? Lmao

Keep oil in it, keep coolant in it, and don't let it bite the Honduhs.

Especially if you feed it after midnight.

Oh, and beware the curse of 30 year old aluminum.

Do NOT over torque any of your engine bolts.

Thanks for the tips. These will help us keep our newly acquired Brat healthy, and happy

Change the transmission fluid and the rear diff fluid.  I just picked up an '83 Hatchie... the rear diff was extremely low on fluid... about 8 oz. drained out.  Should have been 32 oz.

Adding to Ben's great Advice:

I Must Add: Keep it "Cool" ~ Don't let it to Overheat.

So Check the Coolin' System & Replace any Brittle Hose... etc.

KInd Regards.

If you live where they salt the roads, keep the undercarriage and rear wheel wells washed out.
