Need to know how much a 1999 Legacy is worth. It runs and drives, but it has a bent rod. 172,000 miles

By "bent rod," do you mean an engine connecting rod? If not, what kind of rod?

Sorry, I guess it's a rod bearing, that is going out.

It's my sister's car. I'm just trying to get rid of it for her.

take note, prices in the northwest are really high for Subaru's so it might be worth more than many other areas.

around here - about what John just said too - $500. (if you were really lucky and waited awhile to sell it - maybe $800 or more)

the more you want the longer it takes...or the less you want the shorter it takes.

Prices I see here in Indiana for a 99 with a bad motor is an asking price of around $1,000, I am sure owner takes less upon negotiation.

Ok, thanks. The local Mechanic said he would give us $500 but my brother-in-law thinks he can get $23,000.

Heck, If it's only $500, I might buy it from them and try and retro fit the brat.

if you are handy, the cheapest solution is to buy a good ej22, 90 - 98 engine (90 - 94 are probably cheaper, not much demand), or even just a short block, and swap the heads and intake from the 99 on to the ''new'' block.

the 99 ej22 is a phase 2 engine and a 90 - 98 ej22 will not swap in easily. but the block, crank, rods and pistons of the 90 - 98 ej22 will bolt on to the 99 heads and intake and you will be good to go. either for you or for them.

or you could source a 99 - 00 ej22 but there aren;t very many of them, and they tend to be lots more expensive than a 90 - 98 engine / block.

good luck.

I'll sell him my 1999 outback 30th Anniversary edition (2 moon roofs, heated seats & wipers, great stereo with woofer upgrade, power & heated side mirrors & more...) for 1/2 of that $23,000! (& it runs great, too)

careful, there are some people who might thing that is a bargain.

i doubt your sister would.

I wouldn't pay more then $500 for it.

In a running condition, could be worth up to $7k but it wild have to be fairly low miles and very clean.

It all depends...are you paying in cash or with pieces of paper with strange banking letters and symbols on it?

She might. She's a complete whore.

Whats her number?? ;-)

wow, I needed a good laugh after the night I had, thanks, lol

Lol, I ment 2,300. I'd sell him my sister for 23,000.

I don't know. I'd have to see pictures first.

Ouch!! She looks like one of them Toledo girls!!! I cant talk... I was born in Morton... I got out when I was three though. Went through six sets of wheels for my baby walker to do it though.
