14''wheels but only 4. What for spare?

Featured Replies

Hope this doesn't sound too stupid but I plan on adding 14"'s to my Loyale but only can find 4 wheels. Til I get the 5th, would 2 x 13's work as spares if I got a flat and changed both sides or do all tires front and back have to be same size? Its part time 4 wd.

It's only a spare. just make sure you put it on the back & leave the front ones as the same size.

And obviously don't go driving all the way across the country with the spare on :P

Thanks for the quick replies and, Silas, that link is awesome for what I'm getting ready to do.

A older friend i like talking to said when he was younger he had a lifted 80 toyota truck with 44 inch tires. He had a flat so he put on a spare which turned out to be the original so he put it on the front so it was leaning really far down on one front corn but he made it home.

44s on a 22r? was he insane perhaps?

If you have a rear LSD and you like the clutch packs working, run your offsize spare it the front where the open diff is.

On a Toyota, you can change the gearing. Makes a world of difference.

Could always run it on the rear and take the right rear axle out like you do with a welded diff if its that much different and you have a long way to drive (over 60miles or)..
