June 18, 201411 yr Just wondering if I can put a set of factory Outback 16" wheels on my 94 legacy without them rubbing. I know the pattern and offset are the same, just wondering if they will physically fit. Thanks in advance for the help. -Skip
June 18, 201411 yr The wheels will fit fine, the outback tires might be too big. 205/55/16 is the usual tire size legacys have with 16" rims, and that size would work well.
June 18, 201411 yr With stock Legacy struts you will be limited in what you can fit without them rubbing on the spring perch With Outback or Forester struts you can go larger much more easily use this to help you determine sizing... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
June 18, 201411 yr Anything smaller than 225/60/16 will fit using the stock Legacy struts. Outback Struts have a higher spring perch.

June 18, 201411 yr Are the outback/forester struts bolt on for gen 1 legacy? I do appreciate all the responses. you need to put your rear top hats on the rear struts. Other than that, they bolt on. But if you just want to run the outback wheels, they will fit just fine with a smaller size tire.
June 19, 201411 yr If you did want to lift your Legacy and have a nice tight feeling with less body roll, '96-'99 Outback struts with '98-01 Forester springs are the way to go. My '95 handled like a track car with this setup and Potenzas (Granted I used all new components) Food for thought.
