Diagnostic Help

Featured Replies

I just brought my 2012 Subaru in for service.  The car would stall as it was coming to a stop - Just under 10-15mph.  the Dealer said it is a Faulty torque Converter that needs to be replaced.  Is this common on a 2 year old car with 46000 miles??  Might I be suspicious they are misdiagnosing the problem??

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks

Joe

Hi. Could be something going on with it. Most likely not unlocking for some reason, possibly something flaky with the lockup duty solenoid? Maybe it then stalls, loses line pressure, and the TC unlocks so you can restart it.

Is this under warranty?  It is an uncommon failure in a Subaru, but classic symptoms. Can be fairly easy to diagnose.

Try shifting to N if possible.

Does the dealer want to replace the torque converter under warranty at no cost to you??
