May 6, 20169 yr so about 2 months ago, turning right real hard and uphill into a parking spot heard severe clicking out of left front despite suggestions from the board, I ignored possibility of cv boot damage today am told inner cv boot shot and grease splattered all over funny but my external hg gasket leak masked the smell of the grease?! anyways, I have developed some vibration on that left side is it too late to reboot and should I just go for a reman axle? cost vs. benefit/risk am not doing the work myself... May 8, 20169 yr If they are still selling off the old stock I'd grab an empi I put a set in the front of bluebaroo and ive put 10k+ hard miles on them with no issues at all. Edited May 8, 20169 yr by mikaleda
May 9, 20169 yr Inner joints respond well to clean, regrease, and reboot. The couple of vibrating and popping inner joints I've rebooted are still going strong years later with no issues, two of them on lifted soobs. That being said I wouldn't try that if I was paying labor or uncertain it was an OEM/MWE axle. Rebooting a used Subaru axle is good option. I've bought tons of $25-$30 Subaru axles. Www.car-part.com or eBay. Make sure they're green inner joint Subaru OEM. Can usually get one with new boots and get 2-4 years out of the boots. Or reboot it before install is wise. Aftermarket boots last about 2-4 years, Subaru boots last 5-10. Id lean towards Subaru boots
