feedback carbi or not

Featured Replies

I want to kno weather my ea81 has a feedback carb cause i have been told feedback ones dont like having the emission stuff messed wif. Are there any key indicators. It is an Aussie 1990 brumby.

Btw: I hav receptly dumped the charcoal canister and running the vac advance directly to the ported source.

If I do have a feedback carb should i put the charcoal cansiter back on as to not muck wif computer?

Correct me if I'm wrong here but the feed back carb system uses an Oxygen Sensor. If you ahve an O2 sensor in your cat then I'd say you got a feed back carb. Check?

my 82 Brat has a feedback carb and I removed ALL emissions equipment. That little pickup starts and runs great, great throttle response, good mileage. And I run my vac advance from the manifold source.

Well I dun have have an oxygen sensers so it looks like a non-feedback?!?

Do you have that computer subiemech was talking about?

Sounds like someone above already axed the emissions BS on a feedback system and still runs fine. PM him for some details! :D

The feedback stuff isn't directly involved with the emmissions stuff. The feedback computer is only interested in coolant temp, and the O2 sensor - it has no control over the emmissions stuff, which is all passive with the exception of the air injection system. The AIS is the only part of the emmissions equation that even has moving parts (and even then it's just a reed valve). Basically the emissions systems consist of the passive evaporative system, and the active catalytic converter and AIS system. The EGR valve is the third system - used to reduce combustion temps. None of these systems have any connection with the feedback carb, whose job is simply to reduce emissions by regulating the fuel supply dynamically with changes in engine speed, temp, and mixture (O2 sensor).
