The plastic moves around on the steel core under my hands and fills me with precision cornering prowess and confidence (not... haha!). Switched it out today for a Nardi brand one I picked up on ebay. Heaps nicer feel and slightly smaller diameter too.
October 3, 20178 yr New gen car but I made this for my 98 Forester IMG_2670 by Dans Subaru, on Flickr IMG_2669 by Dans Subaru, on Flickr It's an 03 LL Bean H6 steering wheel from a junkyard car that had deployed airbag. I made the custom wood center from scrap pine from Home depot that had unusual burls. I made the Dichroic Glass Subaru logo piece also. It's attached to the OE airbag craddle and bolts in and functions as a horn button just like the airbag module.

October 24, 20178 yr Not sure how to post a picture but I have an nrg quick release hub and wheel that I got cheap on my 86 wagon. Makes the blinker a pain but prefer it over the stock wheel. Edited October 24, 20178 yr by Gasket97
October 26, 20178 yr Gloyale can you make me one for my suby?! Dang that is sick! Nah, but I can tell you how. It wasn't hard. If you got a jigsaw, and a screw gun, a few round files and some sand paper and time.
