uneven tire wear

Featured Replies

Well, uneven tire wear is usually an alignment issue, or something is failing and needs inspected. Take to a place that does free inspections and have them SHOW you what's bad.

took the car in for an alignment. it was out a little, but not enough to wear  tires. They adjusted it back in. Also this is wearing on the pass front tire. it is worn across the tread, not on the edges.

What else do I look at before putting new tires on it

hmmm, maybe a weak strut is allowing too much bounce. Or, could be a bad tire?

details on car and tires please.

Strut

But a better description and info would be really helpful.

this is a 99 legacy outback wagon. Would that strut  cause tire wear if the alignment is good? I plan on replacing all of the tires, but do not want to have one go bad again on me. The car had new tires on it when I bought it. about 211K miles. They are amerigas tires. never heard of them.

Toe was probably scrubbing.. Struts will hammer tires and cause flat spots and cupping. Garbage tires will also wear if defective

strut and maybe inner tie rod, and crappy tires ????

start from a known good, tight base with decent tires and monitor that corner while doing proper tire rotations. Then deal with w'ever crops up.

that's what we all do with our old cars.

Just changed out all 4 struts on a 2001 obw, both right side struts were shot , both right side tires were going bald ... left side struts still held gas and both left tires still had usable tires.   Alignment checked out fine.  Yes, bad struts cause tire bounce and wear out tires.
