Show us your homemade carrier bearing mount!!!

Featured Replies

i will go buy some film and take pics of my dl wagon which there is a bolt on type mount for the carrier bearing

so, youre just going flush with the floor......

welding tomorrow

The driveshaft is in the tunnel, stock location.

After looking a Qman's and building mine, I have a question. Why didn't Subaru build the mounting tabs strait like most carrier bearings I seen and changed on trucks and such? Instead of the strange angles that thay are at. Hell I thought mine was bent or something.

I could go snap a pic if you want when I get home tonight but its pretty simple... welded bracket directly to unibody. Thought about a fancy bracket and bolting it all in but in the end said forget about it!

Thx Arch !_!

i think you posted this about 2 months ago, and i must have offered this advice. take out the carpet!_! unless your like morgan and you dont care, then just have a water hose goin for the fire

on the 4wd conversion sedan we used a drill and a chisel to separate the stock mounts from the 88 wagon, and welded them to the sedan and used self tapping screws. about burned the car to the ground, should have removed the carpet!! needless to say all the McD trash didnt help matters

Hmm...I need to start thinking about fabbing something for my Turbo Touring Wag 4wd conversion.

Anyone have a scale drawing with measurements etc?

John

john, when i go back to jims this tuesday, i can measure the mount that i built, it fits both ea81 and ea81 bodies.

what i did was built the mount around the carrier bearing, bolted it to the bearing, installed shaft and jacked it up against the body, from there i marked where i wanted the holes to be, took it out, drilled, put it back in, and drilled thru the floor with the holes i just made

on an ea82 the holes will be right where the trans tunnel starts, and between the seat belt release and the front rib the seat bolts to. it was rather simple to make, all in about 20 minutes, i spent more time looking for the appropriate metal than i did fabbing it up
