Select Trim Level. What??

Featured Replies

I'm looking at a Subaru parts place online. It wants me to select one of these for my 86 GL 1.8L. I looked at my VIN but I can't relate anything on it to any of these, other than I know my is non-turbo SOHC. Can someone interpret this for me?

Yours will most likely be a 1.8 H4 SOHC 8 valve.

You can try partsouq.com or parts.subaru.com (or subaru.parts.com - I can never remember which one it is) for parts too.

I stumbled across something in my FSM whilr.looking for something else, that might explain the 7 vs 8.

The FSM list showed a 7 vs 8 depending on 49 state vs CA.

I bought mine in Colorado. Does that make it a 7 or an 8? And what the heck do those #s mean anyway?

There are 2 GL base, 8 SOHC in that list. What's the difference?

Only California has 8.

The duplicate, I don't know.  The link only goes to a "select part" kind of table, no way to tell.

86 could be carburetor, or possibly SPFI, I don't know exactly when they changed. I had an 86 carb, and an 87 SPFI.

Sometimes it is easier to use the "contact us" link and let them sort out what they are looking for.

I was looking for struts & shocks. I was curious about the OEMS and prices.

Those items are all the same for 4wd vehicles between the different years with exception to the earlier model that got height adjustable units front and rear.

That's what I would have thought too. It was all those initial choices, before getting in to the actual parts lists, that threw me. I had never seen that many fitment choices before.
