Rear main oil seal tool idea

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever thought an old ( or new - your option) piston would work as a rear main seal whacker-innerer tool?

92 mm std bore piston with full skirt is just a mm or two smaller than OD of a 76*93*10 RMOS !

I did just what GeneralDisorder did; I saw a YouTube video that suggested that same method. I went to the hardware plumbing isle with my new seal to match its size and it worked great!

ABS parts from the plumbing isle. Piston would not work without machining. The crank sticks out past the seal.

Yeah I’m not sure Jono is allowed in the local Bunnings anymore - he gets too many crazy ideas while he’s there!

I did think of the plumbing aisle when the 90mm drain pipe came to mind...

You have me on the crank protrude too far for a piston to work though GD ....

No, not me ...well my mate who does not get out much...can't keep his tongue in his mouth, cant believe so many attractive women would have any reason to be in a hardware joint at all !! :D

Actually was thinking of the bottom of a piston which is why I used the word 'skirt' - but not much of a skirt on our pistons
