January 3, 20197 yr Hello, does anyone know what speakes will fit under the dashboard of a second gen, the jbl speakers that do fit are NLA and Ive wasted much time and money already with speakers that dont fit. Thanks
January 3, 20197 yr I could be wrong but I think they are a custom size made for Subaru to suit where they wanted to fit them. Cheers Al
January 3, 20197 yr if they are an odd-size as mentioned, that could be tough. you might dig around at www.crutchfield.com for something. sometimes, original speakers can be repaired. there's even some youtube videos for 're-foaming' . Edited January 3, 20197 yr by 1 Lucky Texan
January 3, 20197 yr I have replaced the dash speakers in two EA81s using different sized speakers in each. My wagon has 4" round speakers with adapters to mount to the OEM speaker locations. On my old EA81 hatch, I redrilled the frame on some 4x6" speakers to match the factory mounts. I much preferred the sound quality produced by the 4x6s.

I'm pretty sure the Gen 1 uses a single 4x6" speaker in the dashboard that uses a pretty standard mounting pattern.
January 4, 20197 yr Author The opening for the driver side speaker is 3-1/4 so a 4x6 speaker wont fit.
