2000 Forester key fob reprogram to unlock all doors

Featured Replies

Is there anyway to rewire or reprogram a 2000 forester into unlocking all the doors when you push the key fob unlock compared to just the driver side? it would be soooo much more convenient, thanks

My Legacies ('90 & '02) and Outback ('17) unlock the driver's door with the first push of the unlock button and all doors after a second push; check your owner's manual, but I'd be very surprised if your Forester works differently.

Push Unlock 2x.

No way to reprogram that I know of so a single push will unlock all.

yup, 2002 Forester... 1 click for drivers door, 2 for all doors

same on our 06 Outback

so weird, i’ve tried the double click and it’s never worked, my key fob has seen better days to say the least so maybe it’s just getting old

Does your key-fob have fresh batteries?

Is the key-fob OEM? or after-market?

No "reprogram"

But a few minutes with the FSM wiring diagrams you can modify it.

There are 2 outputs from the keyless entry unit or body integrated unit (My 2000 Outback has a keyless entry module, where my 2004s have a BIU, I'm guessing the 2000 Forester is the former). One goes to the driver's door, and the other to all the other doors. Cut both wires, splice both of the body-side wires together to the output on the module that used to go just to the driver's door. And poof, they all open on the first click.
