I am looking a mechanic in the greater Seattle area that is reliable, good priced and honest that knows Subaru. I have an 1987 GL that I was going to put an EJ22 into it but have come to realize that hell is likely to freeze over before I get to it. But I am not giving up on the swap just doing it myself. So if anyone in the PNW knows a mechanic that they trust please let me know.

@Scott in Bellingham aka www.sjrlift.com does lifts and EJ adapter plates. I'm not sure if he takes on customer projects

@GeneralDisorder aka http://superiorsoobie.com/ has a shop that's more than capable, but he's down near Portland

Prepare to pay through the nose if the mechanic has never done a full conversion before.  
 

If you can find someone reliable to do the wiring cut down, it could make it much easier for the mechanic - and possibly cheaper for you too.
