Headlight help?

Featured Replies

My left headlight went out recently in my 86 subaru GL wagon. I repleaced the bulb thinking that was the problem. I worked for like a day and then quite. Now occasionally when I turn my headlights on the left head light will flash on for a second.

Anyone know where the switch is for this or any suggestions????

Thanks! :)

Welcome to the board!

We all have the same problem,

so we only drive during the day!

check the plug for the bulb...clean it if there are signs of corrosion. or follow the wires and check for obvious damage. check for a good voltage signal with a meter if you have one. sometimes you just have to wiggle the wires around and see if the light turns on...then you know where the problem is...hope this helps

How much water and condensation is up in that head light? Those bulb sockets are wide open electrical connections. A lot of times water gets built up in there and can short out the bulb socket.

Typical fix is to just replace the headlamp assembly with one that has a good seal and no water gets in :)

Thanks so much for all the suggestions (especially the one about driving only in daylight:) )......I will see what I can figure out this weekend.

it's very common for the connection to come loose, try bending the pins on the headlight for better connection, after you use a can of electrical contact cleaner to get rid of the evil greenies

I have the same problem in my 88 GL wagon.I am getting a new headlight assembly from Calebz because the on I have has a lot of water in it,and bulb life is about two days.Dave.
