86 turbo 4wd wagon. where my clutch cable attaches to the tranny, there is another cable, which is not attached, just floating there, that appears to go to a device (looks like a cast aluminum piece) below the brake booster. there are what look to be brake lines going into it...what is it and what does it do?

thanks in advance

Sounds like the hillholder. When you stop on a hill and facing up you can then press the clutch in and hold it there and then remove the brake. The car should stay stationary as long as the hillholder cable is adjsuted properly.

Eh, when they work its great. I guess I'm lazy  The one on my 86 T-Wagon hasnt worked since I got it and I still try to make it work. Did I say I was lazy?

When the clutch gets worn out, the HH will be a bear to adjust right. Most people disconnect them and then dont reconnect when they put the new clutch in.

i never found all the parts for the hill holder when i build my rx, so i didnt put em in. the only problem i am having with it being there is that the hill holder lock the front right brake caliper, until i turn the thing on top of it, then it hisses and releases the brakes. anyone know about fixing this problem?
