BobBrumby
Sometimes when i turn the key to start my brumby nothing happens, i got all lights n stuff, you sit there turning the key then releasing turning releasing and so on. Then it will crank normally start and its wierd cause sometimes it cranks first turn. It "seems" that it if i take the key out and put back in and turn again it cranks more often. 1. Does this sound like a problem with the ignition barrel, where the key goes in, and/or can you take the barrel appart and clean it? 2. Got any ideas? Cheers:drunk:
mons72
the barrel cant be taken apart after what i now, the only thing i can recomend is to get a new one j/y. you can check the conection on the barrel, see if it's lose or it's dirty.
GeneralDisorder
Probably a dirty starter solenoid. You can dismantle the starter and clean the contacts..... It wouldn't be the lock barel - it would be in the ignition switch if that's your problem. It's bolted to the lock, and comes right out with two phillips screws. Just remove the column's plastic covers and you'll see it. Not serviceable - it would have to be replaced. GD

BobBrumby
Sorry for that last corny joke but i couldnot resist. I have worked out that the thing that screws into the lock and barrel is shot cause I can hot wire it every time if the keys where in the on position. I then tested across the permenent power connector on the barrel and the ignition wire, black + white, with a multimeter and sometimes i would get 0ohms and other time it would come on half or not at all. So that is my problem can you verify the name GD and how much would u guys expect to pay for one of these suckers? And btw do you have to drop the steering column to unscrew the two screws on the back of the barrell? Because the lock n barrel is attached to the steering column using two philips and two domed off heads one each side.
bajavwnsoobnut
no just take the covers off and you should see the switch back there and it just comes off after the 2 screws ON the switch are removed
