carrier bearing mounting question....

Featured Replies

has anyone just bolted the damn thing?they are bolted when they come out.why not bolt 'em back in when you swap.

you mean when doing a 5 speed swap into a 4 speed car. drilling and tapping instead of welding, right?

i have a pretty good pic , miles and myself put a d/r into a wagon that was a fwd , email me your email address and i will send you the carrier bearing pic pwood@bright.net

because youd have to spend some time and make brackets and stuff.... and youd have to weld those in anyway.

on morganms, we didnt even use the spacers from the 3inch lift kit. just flipped it around, and welded her in!

its reely not that critical, and welding has worked well several times....unless your afraid of fire =]

i would guess long bolts with an 8th inch thick piece of steel on the other side, with washers, would do the trick.

I used a manure spreader bar, cut in 1/2, to fit, turned bearing so the tabs were down, drilled the holes for the bearing, then jacked the driveshaft to the floor so the bar made contact, marked where the holes should go for the 3/8" bolts, drilled the holes using a drill press, put bar back up, and used a BAD to drill through the body, NOTE!! the carpet must be pulled up, used fender washers, stuck bolts in from topside with fenderwashers down through body and bar, lockwasher, and nut total of 6 holes, and no $
