October 12, 200421 yr Greetings, My '89 GL Touring Wagon has a 3.9 rear diff and I'd like to add a LSD. It sounds like the 3.7 is far more common, can I swap with the 3.7 or do I need to find a 3.9? Thanks...
October 12, 200421 yr hey i used to live near bend madress to be exact but back to topic if you where to put a 3.7 in you would have to change the tranny also. to get a 3.9 lsd i do believe you have to take the lsd out of a 3.7 and put it in a 3.9 case.

October 12, 200421 yr I'm going to be in Sisters around Christmas, I can show you how if you'd like. I can bring the special tool for removing the stub axles. If you have everything all ready, the whole process takes less then an hour.
