Exaust Fumes!!!

Featured Replies

I just got my second 86' Wagon on the road and just like the first one, I'm getting exuast fumes in the cabin some how. I didn't notice anythiing during the first 500 miles or so. Anyone have experience with this kind of thing?

Hack!!Hack!!!Cough.......barf!!!!!!:confused::lol:

Thanks

Corbin

exhaust gaskets, joints, rust

is it so bad you must either A. keep the windows up, or B. avoid idling in place ??

i swear all subarus do that. its the flat underbody pan i think. mine are only noticable when stopped. you must have an exhaust leak under there somewhere.

Exactly! I usually do both. Keep the windows up and turn the car off at long stops.

Looks like time to chase a new exaust system

Thanks Guys

I bought a car from this guy and found out that the rear wheel well at the top had a 4" x 4" hole via rust and the guy stuffed a rag into it to......well, fool me / stop the fumes? I didn't look that hard into the trunk area. Maybe something like that with yours?

hmm well I dont know about other cars but on mine the oil cap fits a bit loose and a good bit of fumes get out. espically at a stop. if I turn it back a little bit to make it seal better I have no fume problems. it works for me. the actual exhaust seems to stay out evin when you have a gasket blown out like I do right now:mad:

be sure not to confuse oil or ATF burning off the exhaust with exhaust. that will smell terrible and gets carried all over the place, the guys next to you at the stop light won't like you.
