November 11, 200421 yr Viscous. From what I understand, all diffs up until 95-96 area will work, any R160 diff. When they switched to the axles without roll pins, that's the R180 diff.
November 11, 200421 yr It's not so much the diff that matters, it is the gears inside that make the difference. If it is a 3.90 VLSD then yes it will work, had one in Vickys car. Later, Tim

My 96 Impreza doesn't have roll pins in the axles. If you look at the VLSD, you'll see that it has stub axles that are held in with a 'C' clip, just like that later axles, not a bolt like the EA series cars. If you had a set of those stub axles, you could use any diff.
