November 15, 200421 yr So it's just about time! What I need to figure out is which radiator from who? Money is an object which escapes me 99% of the year, so cheaper is better, but I also want to keep the rig cool. So, where to get it, and what kind (EA81/EA82). My car is an EA81T, so let me know your opinions and experiences! Thanks
November 15, 200421 yr I've bought the Modine 698 in the past, but had to drill the holes for the fan mounts. The GO/DAN 34698 (Advance Auto Parts) http://www.partsamerica.com already has the captive nuts welded on in the correct locations, so I go with that one, even though it's a little pricier...
November 15, 200421 yr I've used Modines, and they are good replacement radiators for the $$. I've also had good look with these guys: http://www.autobodypanels.com/ They carry "crash parts" for professional body shops, and generally have high quality radiators for the lowest prices I've seen. Just ask for wholesale pricing, and they'll usually give it to you without any hassles. good luck, John
November 15, 200421 yr if its an ea81 car in your sig. id say junkyard. the later ea82 cars came with aluminum radiators, that didnt fall apart nearly as fast as the copper ones. as long as its not full of oxidation, those work well. you just have to drill two new holes in the top, and mess with the lower mounts a bit.
November 15, 200421 yr Author I was thinking about the good 'ol J/Y, but the concern is that I am using the original radiator on my car (yes, the one in my sig.) and it's no good, so what good is getting another possibly old and crappy one? I suppose if the EA82's are aluminum, that might be a plus. Being a broke college student limits my automotive buying power. Thanks for the input.
September 28, 201510 yr So an EA82 radiator will fit a EA81T with AC? It looks so tight between Fan and water pump pulley.
September 28, 201510 yr As an EA81T owner who recently replaced their radiator, a regular old EA81 radiator will fit the EA81T, no problem. Just get an EA81 rad and be done.
