November 27, 200421 yr what does it take to swap a front ea82 axle in to a ea81? given spline count is the same is there a writeup somewhere? no search luck
November 27, 200421 yr The spline count on the DOJ wouldn't be a problem as long as you do not use Turbo 5-speed axle. But there are a few other things you may run into. EA82 axles are longer, you might have to change the inner wheel bearing seal, you may have to use an EA82 hub.

I may have a core axle with torn up boots.....
November 28, 200421 yr BUT... in a pinch, you can rebuild an ea81 axle with parts from an ea82 axle, and vise versa! =] just mix and match the parts that fit. seriously, it works.
