ea81 to ea82 axle swap question

Featured Replies

what does it take to swap a front ea82 axle in to a ea81? given spline count is the same

is there a writeup somewhere?

no search luck

The spline count on the DOJ wouldn't be a problem as long as you do not use Turbo 5-speed axle. But there are a few other things you may run into. EA82 axles are longer, you might have to change the inner wheel bearing seal, you may have to use an EA82 hub.

Why Are you wanting to do this....??? they don't just swap in.......

not worth the trouble.... with a longer axle, you'd need to make the control arm longer or move the mount out for it, plus it'll mess up your camber.

I may have a core axle with torn up boots.....

BUT... in a pinch, you can rebuild an ea81 axle with parts from an ea82 axle, and vise versa! =]

just mix and match the parts that fit. seriously, it works.
