What is the best accessories for my new Outback? What will make it look that much nicer?

A huge friggin' wing'll make it look ricer! ...oh wait you said nicer?

Oh, I am wondering if any trim accessories are worth it? If so, where is the best place to get them?

I am doing a few mods to my car. I want to get the wrx 16" rims, If I can ever find one I would like the front lip that the GT version has. Aside from that and perhaps a nice stereo there is not too much more out there. Remote start maybe..??

The only person that can correctly answer that question is you, in the end. What do you want your outback to look like? What accessories do you want on the car? It maters not one whit what anyone else thinks would be good for your car. It is your car after all. You are the one who will be paying for it, and driving it, and living with it for some time to come. . .

After 8 years, my wife's interior rear compartment still looks pristine even though we have a dog and carry a ton of things there. This is due to her initial purchase of the floor mat/ tray from Subaru right off the bat. It's worth the investment.

I bought the factory hood deflector for my 02 OBW. It improved the look of the front, in my opinion, and does its job to stop stone chips on that leading edge. Whether it deflects a lot on insects or not, I couldn't say, since it has loads of insect strikes on it, but a lot still make it to the windshield. My 97 OBW had no such option and the front of the hood really took a stone chip beating. I'll have another hood deflector on my next OBW.

The little tweeter speakers on the triangles in front of the front door windows make the stock radio sound about 100 times better.

The rear compartment rubber mat helps keep the back clean- I've hauled x-squared loads of dirt, bricks, and mulch back there.

The grab bar for the rear door is a nice touch-functional and looks good, too. The rear wind deflector (or whatever it is called) looks really good and keeps the back window from building up a layer of dust.

check ebay alot. do specific searches and also generic searches for "subaru oem" & "subaru factory"

Can you recommend tires and speakers?

Check with Crutchfield. For my Forester I replaced the front speakers with 6.5" Panasonics.

 

The rear speakers proved to be a problem. That required an adapter to reduce the size to 4" from 5". It seems there are no quality speakers made in 5" that are available from Crutchfield. I wound up using the adapter with Sony 4" speakers. The adapter is not available from Crutchfield but from another company.

 

For tires I would suggest Bridgestone Turanza LST. They are a very good all-season tire. Another alternative would be Firestone Affinity.

Crutchfield includes the wire adapters for the speakers. I did not have to cut any wires; just plug and play. Their return policy is the best. They pay for RETURN shipping. Show me another company who does that. There might be "kick butt deals" elsewhere but Crutchfield is number one in my book for car audio.

Well, I bought mine at the dealer before I took delivery of the car. Neither the rear spoiler or the grab bar is very hard to install, and (believe it or not) the dealer installed them "free". Do a search for Subaru parts and there are many aftermarket outlet houses.The dealer has a little catalog of accessories at the parts counter. Take money, take lots of money. They do have some very cool coats and hats, etc.

OK, I've looked around (Michigan redneck market research) and you're gonna need a set of Yosemite Sam "Back-Off" mudflaps and an "I Support The Troops" yellow ribbon cheerleader sticker. That should safely put you square in middle America.

Could the "grab bar" be called anything else? I can't find a picture or description of the part anywhere. Where does the part go?

Soory-the "grab bar" is a horizontal "towel rack" bar mounted right under the rear license plate. It merely makes it more comfortable to close the rear hatch. Nothing glamorous, but useful and doesn't look bad.

I put in 4 Infinity Kappas and a late model OB AM/FM/WB/Cassette/CD and they sound great.

 

I've had good luck with the Michelin HydroEdge tires. There's a Goodyear assymetrical that seems to be a good one as well. The best snow tires I've experienced lately are the new Nokian Hakka RSI's.
