So I was sliding around in the safety of a snowed-over, fairly slick parcking lot in my 91 auto tran-tran loyale, and as I am drifting around a planter, lush in greenery, the car just turns off as though it were frightened of the freshly dumped, white blanket of frozen precipitation. The electronics (stereo and lights) were still in perfect operation. Is this merely a feature of the luxurious loyale designed to keep me from sliding to my ultimate demise, or is it time for a friggin' tune up.

I'm fairly confident that that is not a dealer option you have there. Sounds like something is amis. I have been told that Subarus know no fear, so that is definately not a case of your car being intimidated by a planter.

I bet you were running near the red line.

All of my Subarus have turned off when I hit the red line, turning on again as soon as the engine revs dropped to a more reasonable level. That's an ECU function as near as I can tell.

Wierd. I've had my EA82 well over red-line (as in, around 8000 revs)
