EA82T Behind the Flywheel

Featured Replies

Today is the day for swappin', and I don't mean wives' 'cause I don't got one. I'm prepping the new(er) engine for my 87 T-Wag. When I pulled the flywheel off I noticed a plate with five or six screws in back of the block. What is it and does it have a gasket? If I can't find a gasket will silicon do the job?

Its an access hole that apparently is only on the MPFI/Turbo motors.

There is a (cork I think) gasket for it.. I have a new one in the garage somewhere. should be pretty cheap from the dealer if you wanted to replace it.

it's the cover for the oil seperator..you'll notice a PCV hose plugs into it just behind the engine bell housing..OEM gasket is cheap but I don't see why a good high temp rtv sealant shouldn't do the trick..

its supposed to have cork on it? my one had a rubber seal doing the job. it looks like the opening behind it is straight into the sump, so there shouldn't be any pressure on there at all? if so then i'll just use silicone to seal it...if there is pressure then i'll have to get a bit more serious.

There is a cork gasket for it.

After seeing wht FUJI Bond does...I'd only have the gasket jst for bedroom decor...and use FUJI Bond on it.

How does one acquire said FUJI Bond? Is that a dealer-only item or can the average sube-junkie get ahold of it. If its good enough to seal the two halves of subaru blocks together, it will work for just about anything.
