2. Subie related, look at all the parts before you give up. in a related note, rear Forester struts will not fit on the front of the Legacy, however i didn't realize until i put the front end back togetherthat i was looking at the rears, and the fronts would have fit just fine. :banghead:

Mine's pretty good.. got a rock stuck in my steering, messed up my rack & pinion and steering york... and while taking out the old rack managed to break a welded on nut inside the frame, cut the bolt, grinded a hole to get the old nut out... fixed that stuff. Managed to lose the same bolt at LEAST 10 times in the period of 30 minutes... took me 2 hours to connect a hydrolic line to the rack... ohh.. it was a good day.

also, the stabilizing bar links in and imp. should be almost vertical, not horizantal *crunch*

but on a brighter note, my steering is fixed, and smooth yay!

Never put the cam gears on your motor backwards. The cam angle sensor drives a LOT of stuff.

dont talk to a customer or someone else at work while putting on timing belts, or torquing head bolts. Sucks when you remember that you didnt do something right after the engine is back in the car, or the timing belt covers are back on and the car wont start..

 

I tried for 5 months to change my rear shocks on my Brat. I pulled on the nut and yanked, got a pipe for my breaker bar, swore, threatened did everything but pull a gun on the nut and it still wouldn't break loose. One day, I tried the bolt side, and it came out sweet as pie. The nut side was welded in place. Try all options.

how about trying to take out the fender bolts w/ an electric drill on the highest torque setting... i only have 2 top fender bolts now... :-\

oh, another good one, lowering a vehicle onto your foot.... man i've never turned a jack around that fast before...

I thought that bolt was frozen and grinded half way through the thing before I tried to put a wrench on the back side. Oops. I just went ahead and grinded it all the way off and put new nut/bolt pair in the hole.

 

For lots of other things the only way I learn, is the hard way. For instance: a 2WD truck will get stuck easier than a 2WD car, the road to work doesn't get shorter because I want to sleep longer, metal stays hot for a long time after being welded, drinking too much results in a hangover for which there is no cure, a two year degree isn't a shortcut to a four year degree, putting things on a credit card to pay off later is a really really bad idea, and projects always take longer than expected.

Make sure you beat back the the inner fender wall with a bfh to keep the new springs and struts from rubbing.

Hint. Attaching the tops of the struts to the car and then the wheel hub to the strut is 100 times as easy as the opposite.
