1989 RX Spoiler

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, was wondering about how i would be able to take of the spoiler for the 89 RX. I really have no need for it since i am lookin at replacing perhapes, dont know with what but it will be old to fit the style :brow:. Could someone tell me how to take it off? And was wodnering if anyone would wanna take it off my hands for a cheap price. It appears to have been quickly painted on some areas and maybe some bondo but it seems to be in quite good shape otherwise. Pics up tomorrow.

on top of the spoiler by the galss there is a circle cap on each side, remove cap and bolt..open up the hatch and remove the plastic cover. there will be a total of 4 nuts you have to remove, 2 for the center pillar, 1 on each side pillar..if i remeber correctly you mave have to remove the 3rd brake light to get to the to center bolts.

You might want to contact CHIM, a thread of his regarding an 88 RX he picked up with a blown motor and a hacked off spoiler just got dug up, he might be interested:

I assume the 88 and 89 couldnt be that different, but that would be something for someone else to clarify as I know little about the exterior of the car. Anyway, just a suggestion.
