July 13, 200520 yr Major bummer for me and all the good folks working here......... http://www.keloland.com/NewsDetail2817.cfm?Id=0,40997
July 13, 200520 yr This article made me sad. For what its worth, my heart goes out to you and your co-workers. In the HUGE-LY populated area i live in, there are three Subaru dealers, and about 150,000,000 Kia, Daewoo, Geo, whatever other people drive dealerships. It makes me sad to see a Subaru dealership go under, instead of one of the others. I'm totally sorry. *sympathy*
July 13, 200520 yr Author Just to clearify, I don't work there. I just like alot of the people who do. Later, Tim
July 13, 200520 yr I wonder aobut the people that have their cars there for svc. or HG's etc. Could you imagine if they shut the place down and your motor was on the floor half apart? Lawsuit time. I hate to see the soob dealers go under...especially when the people there are nice... I wonder if the bank will liquidate the cars at a highly discounted price? hmmmmmmmmm
July 13, 200520 yr I told Tim just last night we should now sell the RS, because if any work needs to be done on it there is no dealers here in town, also the nearest one to us is in Minn. about 3 hours away.... Thats why I wanted a BRAND NEW ONE was for the Warr. and the people here..... Vicky
July 13, 200520 yr Hopefully the market will support reopening the local dealership under new and better management.
July 13, 200520 yr I'd bet shortly another name will be on the building and hopefully Subaru People will be inside.
July 13, 200520 yr Author that is...in a way...bad publicity for SUBARU. I agree 100%. People see that and think "must not be a very good car" or "I bett they're junk, can't keep a dealer in business" etc etc. I'm really hopeing someone gets in there and buys the place. Later, tim
July 14, 200520 yr Tim- So what was the dealership doing? The bank sounds like there were "discrepancies" in cars-on-hand v. cars reported to bank, and there is mention of large consumer fraud case, but no real details. What was the management doing?
July 14, 200520 yr Author From my understanding this all kind of erupted over a law suit in IA for deceptive business practices. It was one of those JD Byrider type places that will give you in house financing but at a high intrest rate. (Just another case of not taking responsibility on the purchasers end if you ask me). Now there is a state senator involved who worked for the bank/took campagnine money/signed off on loans. Just nasty all the way around. I'd say from the news reports, that there was mismanagment on his part, but who know till it all comes out in the wash. Tim
