running rich would be my guess, or in my case a complete lack of any type of emission controls and a weber carb. F cali and their smog reg's, Yavapai county in AZ doesn't give a damn...i just wont be able to go any where else w/ it.

I just had to put a '93 SP through aircare 5 times. Turned out that someone had poked through the first cat, and had replaced the center pipe with one for an older model without a second cat.

my 82 my dad and i put some gas in it took it to the station and it faild... but it faild becaue of a gas cap... new gascap it passed no problem

If you want to see the Cali smog Nazis pull their hair out over a smog test, just take my 69 Triumph GT6+ in for a test. This car wasn't meant for the US, but the Fed Gov let them in anyway, so no specs to do the test. They have specs for 69 GT6 and MK II, but no GT6+.

good job jerry you guessed right!!!! it was the gas cap that was crappy. it was the original cap. it had no pressure. put in a new one and it passed no problem. good job guys you all did good too .

no! i only use 87 oct. when i'm supposed to use premium 91 oct. but hey it runs good!
