Geez about time! Yea so when/where is the lifting party?

I have all next week off and only plans are putting a new oil pump/swap strut extensions on PC to get it back on the road so I am free to help if needed!

Now I need to get your pugs dismounted for you.Let me know when you have time and the tire shop said they will do it for me for free. Then we can clean them up and get them ready for your new walterrains.

If they won't do it for free, we can take them to my Bro's shop and defintely get them done for free. I'll do it if I have to.

I think I am going to start lifting it this thursday night. That way I have pretty much a week to work on it before I have to drive it to work, that way if something goes wrong I have time.

It also looks like I am gonna have to drive it a few weeks with the stock wheels and tires, until I can afford my tires and get my pugs ready.

Thanks guys!

Rick

you did get one piece tranny xmember/radius rod blocks didn't you? I think that's what they're using all the time now.....I didn't upgrade mine right away and am paying the price :(

can`t wait to see pics, and hear how you like it:banana: i too want to buy one, but haven`t heard from any ea81 owners with an AA setup.

ea81 for a brat, they didn`t make ea82 brats

c'mon man, you knew that:lol:

is this an ea81 or ea82 lift? Did AA fix their horrible camber problems?

-Brian

AA's got horrible camber problems?!?! Whew...I'm glad to hear that before I spend all that money on a kit and drive thousands of miles on a car with bad camber.....

I don't think the tranny cross member blocks are 1 piece, I think there is just 3 little cylinder tubes per side. I think jerry is thinking of the strut extentions.....unless I am crazed.

Don't know about camber, but it seems like it's gonna work out fine.

And yes, it's an EA81 lift, as they never put EA82's into brats.

I'll try to get some dirt up on it here soon.

yea, the 'one piece' ones I'm talking about are three tubes, with pieces between them to tie them together....

unless he EA81 one's work differently....I'm not sure

Ok, so Jerry Demoss came by today, and helped me with the lift. I only got it half in, as one of the engine crossmember nuts got rounded off. So we had to drill out the stud from the top and chisel it off, and that took probably about an hour. But we got most of the front in, and we are going to finish it tomorrow.

Oh, and does it matter what front strut blocks go on what side for the EA81? They are not stamped, and we just kinda guessed what went where....and they looked exactly the same, but maybe slightly slanted. And also, do I need to get longer brake lines? They seem to be a bit short....

So far we are about 30% done, and she's looking beefy already!

Rick

My front strut extensions were marked for left/right and had arrows pointing to the front of the car so you knew which way they went in. But its not a AA lift.

 Just like my lift was... then I returned the front upper blocks cuz they were so wrong! They do have sides... look carefully at them

Actually we both looked at both upper strut blocks and we looked really hard at each one for any differences and to see if there were any marks on them like it says in the install instructions. No marks at all.We looked at them from different angles for about 20 minutes.Rick looked at what direction they should go and we put them on.

yeah, we looked at them for a while, and I just kinda guessed, but they were soooooo close, that it was really hard to tell, even guess. but I guess if it gives me major camber issues, than I can swap them around (although that's a big hassle) but there is only 2 ways it can go due to the EA81's "eliptical" like shape.

Anyway, maybe I'll call albie up and see what he says....

Mine were marked left or right and it had no camber issues, it was for an EA 82 though.

Definately

Ok, so I called Albie up, and he assured me that the blocks are exactly the same, and it didn't matter what went where.

I got the kit fully installed today (THANKS SOOOOO MUCH JERRY!!!!!!!!!) and she's lookin' quite mean already. I have to get pics tomorrow, as it's way to dark now.

As of now with the stock tires I have 8" clearance at the rear diff!!!!!! With the wal-terrains I want to put on I should hit at least 10".

All I need now is to SPFI it, and then get tires for it and I will be set!

The lift bolts up great, and I have some camber issues in the front, but once I get the anti-sway bar on there it might help a bit.

Great kit, awesome welds, and I am happy aside from waiting 3 months for it.

Rick

Sweet! Gotta see this thing...if your not busy maybe you can swing by tomorrow while I'm working on PC so I can check it out. Warning I might start drooling though. :headbang: Incredibly jealous over just the whole Brat thing by itself..but lifted Brats rule!

Up for some wheelin next week then? KBD? Jerry? (if I can bring PC back from the dead again)
