July 3, 200619 yr suggestions? 87 4wd gl wagon, planning on offroading it but still mostly a highway daily driver.
July 4, 200619 yr get some kyb GR-2's, they are OEM but have better damping than the stock crap, and you can use your stock springs if you want. are you planning to buy both front and rear? ~Josh~

July 4, 200619 yr hhmm. been kicking that around myself. i was wondering though, which is a stiffer shock out of the monroe or the kyb's. cause there are different grades of each.
July 4, 200619 yr i would think the gr2's would be a tad stiffer.it just comes down to whether or not you want the adjustability.the stiffness is not going to waiver that much.i would go to every shock site you can find and do some research on the different struts and shocks so that you can make an educated decision.oh,and if you found bilsteins to fit,and could afford them,i would go there.
July 6, 200619 yr Author and what do you mean by adjustableness...adjustable dampening or what? Personally a little bit softer than stock...stock....or even a bit stiffer than stock doesn't really matter that much to me...as long as its not a reallllly big difference but right now all of my struts are squeaky and not doing much damening and all of my spreings are nice and weak so the ride is pretty crappy. Doesn't really need to be adjustable as long as the ride isn't wayyyyy different from stock.
July 6, 200619 yr stock struts are adjustable. the ride height are adjustable, but it makes it stiffer also. I run Gr2's and are very happy with them
July 6, 200619 yr Adjustable SPRING PERCHES - ride hight for you non-tech minded. Also stiffness is mostly a function of springs - the dampening effect is what the shocks give you. So you don't bounce all over the road. You are thinking of air shocks - those do the job of the spring as well, and are adjustable for stiffness. If you get the GR2's your car will sit just like a 2WD - low. And you won't be able to do anything about it. At least if you get the Monroe's or just a cartridge for your existing strut assembly, you'll retain the stock height and adjustability. GD
