New look for the Brat

Featured Replies

Since the temporary demise of my wagon the Brat has become my daily driver for a while. It was a bit unrluy and down right ugly when I got it but I've slowly been trying to civilize it. Over the past week things have gone into overdrive, I managed to get carpet in, 180 watt cd player with aux in & usb going to two door mounted 5 1/4 Sony X-plod 160 watt speakers (really helps mask the loud exhaust). I tracked down my exhaust leak to a chunk missing from the head (guess I need a head). Got my gas tank back on (internal line is still clogged), swapped on the wheels from my wagon and even painted it.

It's made a huge difference, rather than having people flee in horror when I pull up I've had atleast a dozen positive comments and conversations about it in the past weekend. Maybe it ain't so bad after all..... I still need a driver though, Brat is in need of suspension work.

What do you guys think.....improvement?

it looks great. but unless you like advertizing that it's an antique as you pull up, loose the front plate. i lost mine in a car wash 3 years ago and haven't had any toruble with the law. and i don't miss it. take it off and put it under the seat. if any one complains, put it back on.

who did the paint? you ?

I would if it weren't insanely loud right now and the accuracy of the speedo known, I don't need any more reasons to get pulled over. Once I get it quited down it'll come off.

Yeah I did the paint...... I hate to admit it, but 3 1/2 cans of Krylon Rust Tough Semi Flat Black later I don't have to look at that tan anymore. I think it has that look of new body panels, most come painted almost the same black; I feel like the whole truck just came out of a box. :D

I like it, a improvement for sure.

Hot piss!

I like it!

Is that an aeroplane on the front?

It seriously looks helluva good though.

Yeah, '56 Chevy hood ornament, added by a previous owner. My mom hates it, so I kept it on. :D

i dig that front plate:D it looks alot better, but are you still gonna paint it up with a mopar color?

(and yes, that is a cyclops light in a gen 1)

Looks like you could use a new hood and grille though:grin:

Not sure what color it'll end up at the moment, that's a little further down the road. Is that the cyclops that I sold you?

As for the grille and hood, I've found both but I'm short on funds at the moment, working on mechanical stuff right now.

I think it would look better with an Airplane on hood like GoldDiggerRoo?

I dont know about the no front bumper thing. I like it better with it on. It adds more chrome to the color of the front. At lease throw a brushguard on it if you can find one... Other than that it looks awesome. I miss my brat:-\

looks good, should do the wheels too

it'll look badass with a flat black brush guard too

I've been thinking about doing the wheels.... kinda cold now, hard to say if it'll happen. I kinda doubt I'll do a brush guard since it's gonna be slammed and RWD, but that would be pretty cool.

SWEET! i have a brat too. and im doin the same thing. (restore) man thats a good lookin ru. im doin mine a little different tho. im using black bed-liner for the body. (NO STUPID SCRATCHES:grin: ) and marine carpet gor the cab but first dynamat for sound reduction. my exause is a lil loud too right now. and we have the same dent in the nose of our hoods. lol

awesome job man!:headbang:

i think u could enhance the look of the paint by spraying on a clear coat. looks better tho. i like the moonroof. u do that?

As far as I can tell the sunroof is factory, I've seen several other with the identical one as mine, I suppose it could be a dealer added option though, like a/c.

I'm now debating on adding the camper top that I got with it, it's white though, not sure I can do that or have the heart to paint it black.

hack the front off your topper and make a nifty roof spoiler:D
